Have You Visited Facebook?
Taking a cue from GA Moderator Rev. Bruce Reyes-Chow, who is a prolific blogger and does most of his communications online and by email, Savannah Presbytery, as well a some of its churches and pastors, has been utilizing the social networking site, Facebook, as a communication tool. St. Marys PC has their own page, as does their pastor, Rick Douylliez, and are used to advertise events and keep the congregation up to date. Rev. Eric Beene, of White Bluff PC just joined and is using his to create more of a web presence for his church. Many other churches, presbyteries, our GA Moderator, as well as the PC (USA), have Facebook pages. To check out Savannah Presbytery's page, go to our homepage, and click on the "Facebook" link on the left. Facebook is also a great way for your church to have a web site, without actually having a web site. The pages have picture, video, blog, and event/invite capabilites, and other Facebook users can link it to their profile, which makes you more visible. If you would like help setting one up, call Tavia at the Presbytery Office at 912-264-1997

First Brunswick Hosts CROP Walk
The Second Annual CROP Walk, hosted by First Brunswick, is scheduled for October 18th. Location and times will be announced soon. According to CROP's website, http://www.churchworldservice.org/CROP, "CROP stands for Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty. CROP Hunger Walks help to support the overall ministry of Church World Service, especially the grassroots,hunger-fighting development efforts of partner agencies in some 80 countries. Hunger Walks help to provide tools of hope that empower people to meet their own needs. From seeds and tools, to wells and water systems, to technical training and micro-enterprise loans, the key is people working together to identify their own development priorities, their strengths and their needs -- something CWS has learned through some 61 years of working in partnership around the world." Financial Peace University Continues
Blackshear PC has been helping its members become better stewards of their personal finances by holding Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University at their church for any of their members interested to join. The first "semester" was so successful, they are having a second! According to BPC's recent newsletter, the first "graduating class" dumped $100,000 in debt and saved over $8,000 over the 13 week period. That's amazing! If you are interested in starting the program in your church, get some pointers by calling Blackshear PC at 912-449-5681.
